Posted June 6, 2014. Slipping clutch is probably best if you do the heel toe test. Put your foot on the gas with one part of your foot. Your other part firmly on the brake and then drop the clutch. It should stall very quickly, if there is a delay betwee the drop and the stall, its likely the clutch is slipping. Quote.

Hi I got a 03 Focus 1.6 with poor idle after warm up. Changed the crankcase breather hose, ICV was spotless but replaced the gasket. Its still doing it though its caused a couple stalls but not excessive.

The recall was initiated by Ford at the end of 2014. Problems with the degas hose assembly and coolant reservoir can easily be prevented by checking the condition of these parts during every service. Before these parts fail there are usually signs of deterioration (microcracks or discolouration). The first thing that you would want to do is locate the fuse for your Focus’s radiator fan and make sure that it hasn’t blown. If it is blown, replacing the fuse will only solve the problem for a very limited period of time. Unless the wiring issue is fixed, the fuse will blow again. The wiring harness itself can go bad.

Nearly all the problems with this have been in cars with a programmed TUNE. or a aftermarket BOV (blow off valve) (not stock cars) Though at least two folks have reported No, the focus MK1 was the last focus using the ignition key with blue insert. On the Focus MK2 (and also the C-max) Ford used a different type of PATS chip. From the Focus MK2 it is not possible anymore to program extra ignition keys yourself. The ignition keys with blue insert are used on the old TIMED PATS system.
